Chris Gorman is an experienced drone photographer and video producer who specialises in capturing the beauty of the UK’s most iconic national gardens through aerial photography.
In one of his major projects to date, Chris partnered with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) to photograph all five of their famous gardens throughout the four seasons.

In one of his major projects to date, Chris partnered with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) to photograph all five of their famous gardens throughout the four seasons.
This collaboration highlighted the seasonal transformations, gained national newspaper coverage, significantly increasing the RHS’s public exposure and bringing more visitors to their gardens.
The Big Ladder Photographer was recently commissioned by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) to photograph all five of their gardens across the four seasons. These included RHS Garden Wisley, Hyde Hall, Rosemoor, Harlow Carr, and the newly opened RHS Garden Bridgewater, which had just been featured on the BBC’s The Great Northern Garden Build.
My task was to creatively capture both stills and video, with an additional aim to provide press-ready images immediately after each shoot.
The project led to over 15 features in national newspapers, including The Times and The Daily Telegraph. One of the most striking realisations was that even the garden curators had never seen their gardens from above, a unique perspective that highlighted the beauty of the garden designs. The drone shots beautifully captured the symmetrical patterns of each garden, while the changing seasons offered new imagery on every visit.
The RHS granted me creative freedom, which allowed me to craft my vision without constraints, a system that I find effective with all clients. Additionally, I indulged my passion for shadow photography, capturing moments like couples walking or gardeners at work. These images became so popular that they were imitated by other photographers.
Following this, the RHS commissioned further work, including photographing The Princess of Wales’ Back to Nature Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show. The footage from these shoots was used by the RHS for marketing and PR purposes.
